What Are You Waiting For?
Oooh, I can be impatient! I detest sitting in traffic, waiting to be called in the doctor’s office, and waiting to board a plane for a trip! Yes, I’m that girl that wants things to move quickly! My reaction when things are delayed, you ask? Because that’s “life” right? Well, I instantly get an attitude, I can become rude and if really bothered by the situation, I can become vocally irate! You may say, “Farcett, you’re not exemplifying Christ by doing that.” In my sarcastic tone I might say or think, “Really?! I didn’t know I was acting that way!” But in all seriousness, it’s the truth!
Many times in my life I have the same reaction with God. Gasp! Calm down…...I’m human LOL. I get impatient with God when I don’t feel like He’s working fast enough in my life. I ask things like: God, when are you going to send me my husband? God, can’t you bless me to make more money? God, you know I would really like a new car, right? All selfish requests! Does any of that sound familiar? Have you been impatient with God in other areas?
While I’m asking God all these questions, I’m ignoring what I’m supposed to be doing while I’m waiting on God: I’m supposed to be busy working. When I go to my doctor appointments, I don’t just sit and wait. I may read a book, play a game on my phone, respond to emails, etc. The point is that I’m doing something while I wait. It’s the same idea with God. God doesn’t want me twiddling my thumbs while I wait to see how He’ll work in my life. He expects me to be busy: busy being a blessing to others, busy seeking His word, busy applying His word to my daily life. BUSY people! Why? So that others can see Him through me and what they see can help someone else to help someone else to help someone….you getting it?
Psalm 25:4-5 “Show me Your ways, O Lord; Teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; On You I wait all the day.”
Lamentations 3:25 “The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, To the soul who seeks Him.”
These two verses say to me that if I wait on God, He will show me His ways and He will be good to me. If God shows me His ways, I will follow His leading and guiding, which in turn means I won’t be idle. If God is good to me…..WAIT! He’s already been good to me! There’s a song that says, “If the Lord never does anything else for me, He’s done enough!”
So you may be reading this and thinking, what’s the gist? Ok, here it goes: While you’re waiting on God for WHATEVER, make sure He’s not waiting on you to make some moves. God can do His part, but we MUST do our part as well! Don’t stop holding on to your prayers or your faith. Just make sure your faith isn’t lying in wait. Remember James 2:26, “....faith without works is dead also.”
As always, thank you for reading my blog! I pray it blesses and encourages you! Please feel free to share with someone else! Lastly, I leave you with verses to reflect on:
Psalm 130:5 “I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, And in His word I do hope.”
Psalm 27:14 “Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.”
