Is Your Faith on "Fleek" or Flat?

Is Your Faith on “Fleek” or Flat?

Urban Dictionary defines the word “fleek” as meaning, “on point.” Example: My hair is on fleek! LOL, gotta love these kids these days! Now that we’ve cleared that up though, let’s really focus on this question: Is your faith on point or has it died down? First, I think it would be helpful to look at the definition of the word “faith.” Faith is defined as a belief or trust in something or someone. The Bible uses faith to describe our relationship with God. Without faith, we don’t grow or develop into who God would have us to be!
How do I know if my faith is on fleek or flat? Well, let’s look at things in our everyday lives to help us. Have you been praying for something, but are still trying to fix it on your own? Have you been doubting that God is in control of ANY situation that you may be facing? Let me give you my truth here: these past few months my faith has been extremely flat! I was going through the routine of saying my prayers and even saying I believed God would work it out. But guess what? I didn’t believe it in my heart. I didn’t see any proof of things changing quick enough so I began to give up hope! I took matters into my own hands and you know that’s just a recipe for a hot mess! It’s pointless to pray for something and not believe God will do what He said! 2 Corinthians 5, verse 7 says, “ For we walk by faith, not by sight.” God is ready to do His part, but are we willing to let Him?
How can we tell if our faith has fallen flat? I’ll give three examples that I’ve experienced personally. (1) You stop trusting God’s word. You know what the Bible says, but you feel you can still solve all your problems on your own. Proverbs 3, verses 5-6 states, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths.” Put your trust in the One who knows what’s best for you. (2) Your prayer time has decreased. Basically, you’ve stopped praying and believing God. This is so applicable to me. I used to be so disciplined with my prayers and then I allowed personal distractions to pull me away from my prayer time. I would come up with excuses like, “I’m tired,” “I’m sleepy,” and the infamous, “Well, God knows my heart.” God does know our hearts, but faith is put into action by prayer! In Matthew 21, verse 22 it says, “And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.” (3) You start to entertain outside thoughts and/or opinions.  Now, there is nothing wrong with getting advice from a trusted friend, family member, etc. But if you ONLY listen to them, you may look up and discover that you’re living their life and not your own! I love that I have my inner circle that I can turn to for sound advice, but I don’t solely depend on them. I still go home and pray that God speaks to my heart. If it’s right and honors God, we’ll all be on the same page anyway.

If your faith has died down and you have started to experience changes in your life, you can turn it around. Don’t focus on those negative thoughts, don’t give into feeling depressed. As I end this post, I want to be open with you about my own struggles with my faith. It’s not easy to walk by faith. I began to feel depressed and I have questioned so many things in my life over these past few months. I even tried to live my life according to my terms without caring for the consequences thinking it would make me happy. I didn’t feel any better...I actually felt worse! Why? Because I KNOW I’m destined for a higher purpose. I have a job to do and it doesn’t involve my feelings or all I want to get out of this life. It’s ALL about Jesus! He cares that I share His word, His love, His truth! I know that I would be NOTHING if God didn’t love me! He loves me so much that He will shape and mold me, even if it makes me uncomfortable for a bit. He’ll do the same for you because HE LOVES US! This Easter/Resurrection Sunday and everyday, we will win! 1 Corinthians 15, verse 55 says, “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” Christ conquered death and therefore, we will be victorious in this life if we live our lives for Him!

*blogger’s take-away: I had a made a decision a few months back to discontinue posting to my blog. I didn’t feel that I needed to post because I was dealing with so many of my own personal struggles. Funny how, just when I was going to delete my blog, I had a new follower(someone that I don’t know personally) subscribe and like my previous posts. Well, that was confirmation for me! :)
Until next time you guys……...

Verses to encourage you:
James 2:26- “For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.”
Hebrews 11:1- “Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.”
1 Corinthians 2:5- “So that your faith might not rest on men’s wisdom, but on God’s power.”
