I QUIT!

I Quit.jpg

Have you ever just yelled out, “ I QUIT!” Have you been so overwhelmed that whatever you’ve been working on or are committed to, you felt like just giving it up? That has literally been my struggle for the past 6 weeks! I know I’ve yelled, “I QUIT”, “I’M OUT”, and most likely, “THIS IS NOT MY LIFE!” I’ve probably said one or a combination of these phrases at least 20 times...but I’m still hanging on . Let me tell you why.

I’ve had the wonderful opportunity to be a good friend and share my struggles. Well, one day my friend was sharing to me and immediately I recalled this verse and shared it with her. Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” The first part of that verse is what captures me: “for I know the plans I have for you.” Yes, God knows HIS plans for me! My plans are a HOT MESS right now, but HIS plans are for good! Y’all this verse spoke to me so personally because there are two very SPECIFIC things right now in my life that aren’t going as “planned.” But when I read this verse, I BELIEVE God’s words. THAT’S why I don’t quit!

But let’s be real: sometimes I need a little more of a push in the right direction. After I finished talking with my friend, I thought about another verse. John 16:33, “I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” Jesus is saying Yes, we will have trouble. Yes, we will feel like quitting. Yes, we will face hard times. BUT! I love this, he also says “take heart.” In another version, “take heart” is translated to “take courage.” No matter what we face or will face, God has already overcome it. His last line of that verse says, “I have overcome the world.” Our problems don’t stand a chance against God! He ALWAYS wins! THAT’S why I don’t quit!

This was just a quick mini-devotional that was put on my heart to share. Yes, it’s rough these days. If the struggle gets any more real...well, let’s hope it doesn’t so I remain calm LOL. But, we can remember these 2 verses to encourage us to KEEP pressing and to KEEP pushing. Don’t quit on your family. Don’t quit on your friends. Don’t quit on your coworkers. Don’t quit believing that job will come through or that it will get better with the job you have. Don’t quit on your desire for marriage. Most important, seek God. Don’t quit on God.

My prayer is that we turn to God and seek Him even in the midst of our trials. It’s NEVER easy, but so worth it. Until next time…...
